HomeOmega ECEC History
In November of 1984, Nu Omicron opened the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Nu Omicron Chapter Day Care Center (Now called the Early Childhood Education Center). This was accomplished under the leadership of Bro. William Toles, Basileus, Nat Morgan, Board Chairman, and Ed White, Vice Chairman. These Brothers recognized a critical need for this service to the employed parents in the area and worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition. Today, the center serves 105 pre-school children, and 40 school age children. The center continues to graduate students from the programs that are prepared for the challenges they face at the next level. In addition, the center was presented with a proclamation from the New York City Council for its superior service to the children and families of the community. The center has been able to enrich the children's learning environment with new initiatives such as complete renovation of the physical location, computers in every classroom with educational software and staff development workshops.

As the center concludes another successful year of operation, the Brothers of Nu Omicron consider this the chapter's most outstanding achievement, and an example of our commitment to sowing the seeds of Scholarship at an early age. Under the current leadership of Basileus Errin Hatwood, Board Chairman Edward Thomas, Vice Chairman Mitchell Walker, Treasurer Richard Burnside, Secretary Leonard Pitt the center has undergone an incorporation change to better help represent the level of services being provided our families. The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Nu Omicron Chapter Early Childhood Education Center will be the new designation. This change helps us to prepare our children to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
